August Members-Only "Summer Garden Party" Thursday, August 15, 2024
What do you get when you combine Friendship, Perennials, Garden Art, Tomato Tasting, a Silent Auction, and a POTLUCK?? It is the annual RGFC member-only garden party!! After four years following COVID and the garden club providing picnic fare, we are excited to come together and enjoy harvest of FUN-FOOD-FRIENDSHIP!

NEW this year, we will be holding a TOMATO TASTING EVENT supplied by our members who bring n their own home-grown varieties. Any, and all types of tomatoes are welcome. PLEASE bring yours, recut in bite size, labeled with the variety and your name. We might like to arrange some seed-saving opportunity for the Library's Seed Saving Program.

SILENT AUCTION our third year for this member perk. IF you have garden items that you no longer find useful and want to bring them for our members to bid on, we will provide bidding slips that we ask you to help us identify the item, value, and bidding. Remember our COUNTRY STORE also needs our garden items for sale at our Plant Sale in May.

PLANT SWAP we ask members to bring a Perennial plant (sun or shade), a Houseplant or Garden Art. Those who bring an item will be allowed to choose a SWAP following our meal and the cue to go.
POTLUCK...Anything goes! Casseroles (MN Hotdish), salads, fruits, veggies, cheeses, chips, desserts. We have power to keep crockpots hot, cold items can be kept cold on an ice tray or bowl. Beverages provided.

September Meeting "No Mow Lawns - Convert yours to Pollinator Landscapes" Thursday, September 16, 2024
Jamie Elvert, a microbiologist at the Mayo Clinic, citizen scientist and naturalist, will speak on how we can restore our yards to native prairie. Our yards can be beautiful spaces that benefit native pollinators and the environment using Minnesota native plants and funding from the Lawns to Legumes grant provided by Blue Thumb. RGFC will have native seeds to share. Fall is the perfect time to plant native seeds.
